The Holy Trinity

The Holy Trinity

art by bodko
crypto culture

Behold, three familiar faces of crypto lore: Dorian, oft mistaken for the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto; Vitalik, grievously wounded by a centralized Warcraft nerf; and Doge, the beloved shiba of meme fame. In bodko’s holy trinity, internet legends become figures worthy of an illuminated manuscript, where even a warlock’s sorrow hath its place in history.

Meet bodko, a US-based artist who you might know from his hilarious parody art on Foundation. Bodko has a beautiful skill of bringing in iconic characters from games and pop culture and smashing them together in painterly crossovers so weird and specific that you can’t help but laugh! Beyond the jokes, he wears many hats, with experience as an art director, 2D animator, illustrator, video editor, and more. Then he vanished for about two years to go punch people in MMA, and now he’s back to drawing silly things. His web3 journey started in late 2020, when Gary Vee of all people got him curious about NFTs. By early 2021 his posts were going viral on Twitter, so he figured why not mint them, with the pieces being published on Foundation. Since then he's had a base of collectors that enjoy his work. He’s still grateful for the people and friendships that have come out of publishing onchain, and we feel the space has been a little less fun without him!

crypto culture

Crypto culture is full of ridiculous stories that most wouldn't believe. The confusion and hunger for Satoshi Nakamoto's real identity, Vitalik beginning his journey into Ethereum as a wounded Warcraft player, and a shiba inu known globally have all become part of our history. Humor gives us a way to share those stories, and parody art lets us celebrate them while laughing at how bizarre it all is. Bodko brings familiar faces into a painterly scene, where we show respect, and at the same time highlight the general absurdity. Our culture shouldn't be lost to time, and there is almost too much to remember. The art we publish shapes how our culture is seen and how we remember it ourselves, from its biggest achievements to its strangest moments. We’re proud to publish a piece that embraces the silliness and gives it a place onchain.
